     சமய சஞ்ஜீவி!

 

சில விஷயங்களுக்கு ஒப்புமை சொல்ல இயலாது.  உதாரணமாக ஆகாயத்திற்கு எதை ஒப்புமையாக்குவது. அதே போன்று சமுத்ரத்திற்கு வேறெதெயும் ஈடாகக் கூறமுடியாது.  ராமனுக்கும், ராவணனுக்கும் நடைபெற்ற யுத்தம் எவ்வாறு இருந்தது எனில் “ராம, ராவண யுத்தம் போன்று இருந்தது” என்பர் பெரியோர்.  அதே போன்று தான் தற்போது, நம்முடைய வாழ்க்கைப் போராட்டமும் இதுவரை அனுபவித்திராததாகவும் , வேறெதையும் ஒப்புமையிட்டுச் சொல்ல முடியாததாகவும் பயங்கரமாகவுள்ளது. உலகில் ஒலிக்கும் ஒட்டு மொத்த செய்தித் தொகுப்பில் ஒன்று கூட நல்ல செய்தி இல்லை என்னலாம்.  இன்னமும் எத்தனை நாட்கள் நீடிக்குமோ? எனும் அச்சம் அகலவில்லை.  ஒவ்வொரு வினாடியும் பிரார்த்தனை செய்வதும், எளியோர்க்கு நம்மாலியன்ற உதவிகளைச் செய்வதுமே; தற்போதுள்ள நிலையில் இயலும்.

இதன் நடுவே, சில மருந்துகள் ஓரளவு குணமடைய வழிவகுக்கின்றன எனும் ஆறுதலான செய்தியும் காதில் விழுகிறது.  “அமெரிக்காவைப்பார், ஜப்பானைப்பார் , சீனாவைப்பார், சிங்கப்பூரைப்பார்” என்று பிறந்த நாட்டின் (பாரதத்தின்) பெருமை உணராமல் பேசியவர்கள் கூட வாயடைத்துப் போகும்படியான பல முன்னேற்றங்களை நம் தாய்நாடு கண்டுவருகிறது. இக்கட்டான இந்த சூழலில் மத்திய, மாநில அரசுகள் ஒன்றிணைந்து செயல்படுவது நம்பிக்கையளிக்கிறது.

குறிப்பாக, “சில நாடுகளுக்கு நம் நாட்டிலிருந்து அவசரகால மருந்துகள் ஏற்றுமதியாகியுள்ளன” என்பதே தற்போதைய Talk of the earth. அதிலும் ப்ரேசில் அதிபரின் வேண்டுகோள் வித்யாசமானது.

ராமாயணம், பாரதம் போன்று தலை சிறந்த இதிகாசங்களையும் அதன் பாத்திரங்களையும் கேலி செய்து, கற்பனை பொய்கள் என்று கொந்தளித்தவர்கள் கூட “தங்கள் காதுகளை நம்ப முடியாமல் நடப்பது நனவா கனவா” என வாய் பிளந்து பார்த்து வருகின்றனர்.

“அனுமன் சஞ்சீவி மருந்தைக் கொண்டு வந்து தந்தது போன்று, இந்தியாவிலிருந்து மருந்துகளை அனுப்புங்கள்” என்ற ப்ரேசில் அதிபரின் கருத்தே தற்போது உலக அளவில் Trending.

மருந்துகளை அனுப்புவது பெரிய விஷயமில்லை.  “சமய சஞ்ஜீவியாக” என்றதே ஆச்சரியம்.  நேற்று (08/04/2020) அனுமத் ஜயந்தியாக வட தேசத்தில் கொண்டாடப்படும் நாளில், அனுமானின் சாகசத்தை நினைவுறுத்தி, ராமாயணத்தை மேற்கோள் காட்டி, ப்ரேசில் அதிபர் பேசியது தான் ஆச்சர்யத்தின் உச்சக்கட்டம்.

இனி ராமாயணத்தில் அதன் மகத்துவத்தைக் காணலாம். ராம லக்ஷ்மணர்கள் ப்ரம்மாஸ்திரத்தினால் அடியுண்டு வீழ்கின்றனர். ராவணன் , ராம, லக்ஷ்மணர் இறந்ததாக எண்ணி வெற்றி கொண்டாட்டத்தைத் தொடங்கினார். அப்போது ஜாம்பவான் ஆஞ்சநேயனை அழைத்து சஞ்ஜீவி மூலிகைகளைக் கொண்டுவரச் சொல்கிறார்.

அந்த மூலிகையின் பெருமை என்ன? என்பதைத் தெரிந்துக் கொள்ளலாம்.  1. ம்ருத சஞ்ஜீவினீ – இறந்தவர்களையும் பிழைக்கவைக்கும் மூலிகை.  2. விசல்யகரணீ –  உயிர் வந்த பின்பு உலாவத் தேவையான சக்தி தரும்.  3. ஸந்தான கரணி –  இவ்விதம் வலிகளை நீக்கியும், உடைந்த அவயவங்களை ஒட்டிக் கொள்ளச் செய்தும், புண்களில் தோல் மூடச் செய்வதும்.  4. ஸாவர்ண்ய கரணீ – ஆறின புண்களின் மேல் வடு(தழும்பு)க்கள் மாறி, பழைய நிறத்தைப் பெற வைப்பது தற்போதுள்ள plastic surgery முறை இது தான்.

இத்தகைய அபூர்வ மூலிகை மலையை அனுமன் இருமுறை சுமந்து வருகிறான். யுத்த காண்டத்தில் இதன் விவரணம். இந்த அரிய மூலிகை வகைகளைத் தெரிந்த ஜாம்பவான் போன்ற மருத்துவர்கள் இப்போது யார் உள்ளாரோ தெரியவில்லை. ஆனால் உயிர்காத்திட தக்க சமயத்தில் இவைகள் அனுமனால் கொண்டு வரப்பட்டன என்பது பேருண்மை.

உயர்ந்த இதிகாசத்தின் உண்மைப்பெருமையை இன்று உலகம் உற்றுப்பார்த்து ஆனந்தமடைகிறது. “சரியான சமயத்தில் கிடைக்கும் இந்திய மருந்தால் தங்களின் மக்கள் உயிர் பிழைப்பர்” எனும் காரணத்தால் “சமய சஞ்ஜீவி” என்றார் ப்ரேசில் அதிபர்.

இதிகாச புராணங்களைப் பழித்து ஓயாமல் ஊளையிடுபவர்கள் நடுவே, உலக அரங்கில் உன்னதமாகத் திகழும் நம் தேசத்தின் ஆன்மீக பொக்கிஷங்கள் என்றுமே நமக்கு சமய சஞ்ஜீவி தான்.

Timely Medicine

It is hard to find comparisons for some things like the sky and the ocean. Similarly, the war between Rama and Ravana has no comparison and elders often use the phrase “like the Rama-Ravana war.” Our life is like that today. The miseries and suffering that we’re undergoing today have no equal and it is truly unprecedented. And we don’t even know how long this will continue! The only things we can do today are to pray every minute and to help others as much as we can. 

Amid this calamity, a silver lining is a piece of news that some medicines have the potency to cure this disease. Our country is making rapid strides in this war against the disease and has even stumped those who’ve always fancied countries like America, Japan, China, and Singapore, over their motherland. For the common man, the joint efforts by the state and central governments are truly consoling and give hope.

In particular, the Talk of the Earth is that many advanced countries are exporting some important medicines from India as an emergency measure. Even those who ridiculed our Ramayana and Mahabharata epics as fictitious folklore are astounded by these developments. 

The trending news is the request by the Brazilian President who requests India to send emergency medicines just like how Hanuman brought the Sanjeevi mountain as a cure. 

Sending medicines is not the big deal here, but the use of the word “Samaya Sanjivi” is significant. We celebrated Hanuman Jayanthi on the 8th of April this year in North India and on this day, the Brazilian President’s expression of Hanuman’s greatness by invoking Ramayana is truly the icing on the cake.

Now, let’s look at the greatness of Ramanyana. Rama and Lakshmana fell unconscious when Brahmastram hit them and Ravana began to celebrate thinking that Rama and Lakshmana were dead. At that time, Jambavan called Hanuman and asked to bring the Sanjivi herb. 

So, what’s so special about this herb?

1. Mrutha sanjivini – It can bring the dead back to life.
2. Visalyakarani – Gives energy to the body that has just been brought back to life.
3. Santana Karani – Removes pain, heals the broken parts, and covers the wounds with new skin.
4. Saavaranya Karani – Removes the wound marks and replaces it with skin. This is similar to the plastic surgery we have today.

Hanuman carried this mountain with such potent herbs twice. Yuddha kandam explains this in detail. Is there anyone today like Jambavan who understands the potency of our ancient herbs? That we don’t know but the fact remains that Hanuman brought this to save lives.

Today, the world understands the real meaning of our itihasas which are nothing but a depiction of the true incidents that happened many centuries ago. The Brazil President rightly calls this gesture “Samaya Sanjivi” because he believes that the timely medicines sent by India would help to save his people. 

The religious texts of our land that continue to guide us and showcase our true wealth to the world, despite the many criticisms heaped on it, are always the “Samaya Sanjivi” for us.

           ஜெய் ஸ்ரீராம் – மமதாவின் மதியீனம்

நான், எனது என்று சொல்வது நமக்கு நாமே எமனை அழைப்பது போன்றதாகும் என்பர் பெரியோர்.   அதாவது, ஸம்ஸ்க்ருதத்தில், ‘அஹம்’, ‘மம’ என்பது இரண்டெழுத்துள்ள சொற்கள்.   நான் என்றும், எனது என்றும் இது அகங்காரத்தைக் காட்டும்.   அகங்காரத்தை விட மதியீனம் வேறொன்றும் இல்லையாம்.   ‘எல்லாம் நான்; எனதே அனைத்தும்’ எனும் கர்வம் உண்டாகும். இது மற்றவர்களுக்கு மதிப்பளிக்காது;   மற்றவரின் பெருமையை பொறுக்காது; குறிப்பாக,  நல்லுபதேசங்களும் நல்ல விஷயங்களும் காதில் ஏறாது; இவையனைத்தையும் ஒரே வார்த்தையில் சொல்ல வேண்டுமென்றால் அதன் பெயர் ‘மமதா!‘

மமதா – கர்வம், அகங்காரம், ஆணவம், அலட்சியம் எனப் பல அர்த்தங்கள் இந்த சொல்லுக்கு விளக்கமாயுள்ளன.   எவரையும் மதிக்காமல், ஆணவமாக, இறைவனின் திருநாமம் கேட்டால், அது கூட பொறுக்க முடியாததாக இருக்கும் தன்மைக்குத்தான், “மமதா” என்பது பெயர்.

இந்த மமதையால் மதியிழந்து மாண்டவர்கள் அனேகம் பேர்கள் உள்ளனர். அவர்களைக் கணக்கெடுக்க நமது ஒரு ஆயுள் போதாது.   மமதையால் மாண்டவர்களில் இருவரைக் காணலாம்.

ஒருவன் துர்யோதனன்.   அகங்காரமே வடிவு கொண்டு வந்தவன். மற்றொருவன் ராவணன்.   இவர்கள் இருவருமே மமதையின் மொத்த வடிவங்கள்.   “எங்களை இரண்டாகப் பிளந்து வெட்டினால் கூட, எவருக்கும் தலை வணங்க மாட்டோம்” என்று ஆணவத்துடன் அலைந்தவர்கள். வணங்காமுடியாக இருப்பது பெருமை என நினைத்து ஆணவத்தால் (மமதையால்) அழிந்தவர்கள்.

இவர்களில் ராவணன் நிலை மிக மிக மோசமானது.   காமம், க்ரோதம், லோபம், மதம் என அனைத்தும் அவனிடம் நிலை கொண்டிருந்தன.   வங்கக் கடலான இந்து சமுத்ரத்தைக் கடந்து,  நரேந்த்ரனாகிய ராமனின் தூதுவனாகிய அனுமான், “ஜய் ஸ்ரீராம்” என்று லங்கையினுள் நுழைந்தான்.

த்ரிகூட மலையிலிருந்து லங்கையைக் கண்டு, அதனுள் புகுந்து ஒவ்வொரு அடிவைப்பிலும் “ஜய் ஸ்ரீராம்“ என முழங்கி வெற்றி பெற்றான்.

மமதை கொண்ட ராவணன், நரேந்த்ரதாசன் அனுமன் வாலில் வைத்த நெருப்பு, லங்கையைச் சுட்டது.   கண்ணெதிரே தனது கோட்டை தகர்ந்தது பொறுக்காமல் மேலும் கோபாவேசமானான் மமதன் ராவணன்.

அவனது அமைச்சரவையில் இருந்த அவன் தம்பி மற்றும் நான்கு அமைச்சர்களும்,   “ஜய் ஸ்ரீராம்” என்று கூறி, நரேந்த்ரன் ராமனின் திருவடித் தாமரைகளில் அடைக்கலம் புகுந்தனர்.   “அங்கதன் முதலானோரும் “அகந்தை கொள்ளாதே” என்று மமதா உருக்கொண்ட ராவணனுக்கு உபதேசித்தனர்”.   இது எதுவும் பயனளிக்கவில்லை.   தன் ராஜ்ஜியத்தில் எவராவது ராமன் பேரைச் சொன்னால், அவர்களுக்குக் கடும் தண்டனையும் அளித்தான்.

தனக்கிருந்த இருபது காதுகளில் ஒரு காதில் கூட “ஜய் ஸ்ரீராம்” என்னும் ராமநாமம் விழக்கூடாது எனும் மமதையில் இருந்த ராவணன் முடிவு, இறுதியில் என்னவானது?  என்பதை  நாமறிவோமல்லவா! ராமனின் பெருமைக்கு முன்பாக, ராவணின் மமதை த்ருணமூலம்!!

அதிகார வர்க்கமும், ஆணவமும், ஐச்வர்ய மமதையும் கொண்டுள்ள ராவணின் த்ரிணமூலமான(புல்லுக்குச் சமமான) அமைச்சரவையிலிருந்து, விபீஷணன், நான்கு அமைச்சர்களுடன் வெளிநடப்பு செய்தான். அதாவது, ஜய் ஸ்ரீராம் என்று கூறியபடி,  நரேந்த்ரனாகிய ராமபிரான் திருவடித் தாமரைகளில், பாதுகாப்பு வேண்டி, அடைக்கலம் புகுந்தான்!

எனவே நரேந்த்ரன் ராமனின் தாமரைப் பாதங்களைத் தஞ்சமாக அடைந்து மமதையை ஒழித்து மகிழ்ந்திடலாம்.

#JaiShriram….Downfall of #Mamata (arrogance)

When we use words like “me” or “mine”, it denotes selfishness and our elders say it is akin to digging our own grave. In Sanskrit, there are two words – “Aham” and “Mama” that denote selfishness and through it arrogance and foolishness.  When you think that you’re everything and the world revolves around you, it leads to arrogance. In turn, this will make you do many negative things like not giving respect to elders, failing to acknowledge the achievements of others, and refusing to accept the wise words of the learned. If you have to give a single word to all these negativity, it is called “Mamata!”

There are many meanings to this word Mamata and some of them are arrogance, haughtiness, and indifference.  When a person doesn’t respect others and even refuses to hear the name of God due to arrogance, that quality is known as “Mamata.”

Many people with this “Mamata” have perished. In fact, we can come up with so many different names both from our lives as well as from our history and puranas. Probably, the two most prominent people among them are Duryodhana and Ravana. Both of them are epitomes of “Mamata.”

They were very arrogant and refused to bow down even at the time of their death. They believed in their greatness and this is what eventually lead to their downfall as well. Out of the two, Ravana is the worst as he was full of conceit, lust, arrogance, and more.

Once, Hanuman, the greatest devotee of Narendra alias Rama, crossed the great ocean and reached the gates of Lanka by chanting the words “Jai Shriram.” He surveyed the city from Trikuta hill and every step he took from there brought him victory because he kept chanting the words “Jai Shriram.”

The arrogant Ravana decided to punish Hanuman and to this end, he lighted a fire on Hanuman’s tail. But the result was something that he didn’t expect. He saw his fort go up in flames right before his own eyes and this angered him further and made him do many unthinkable acts.

Vibhishana was Ravana’s brother and one of his trusted ministers. Seeing this foolishness of Ravana, Vibhishana and four other ministers left Lanka and took refuge at Narendra (Rama’s) holy feet. Before leaving, they advised Ravana to give up his “Mamatha” and take the path of righteousness. But Ravana never budged. In fact, he even said that whoever uttered the name of Rama will be prosecuted in his kingdom.

He didn’t even want to hear the words “Jai Shriram” because he was too arrogant for it. We all know what happened in the end. Ravana’s Mamata was annihilated while Narendra’s glory reached new heights.

Just like how Vibhishana left the arrogant Ravana and took refuge in the holy feet of Narendra, let us also give up our Mamata and pray to Lord Rama to take us into His fold.

ஸ்ரீமத்ராமாயணத்தில் ராமன், சீதை மற்றும் லக்ஷ்மணர்கள் சித்திரகூடத்தில் இருந்த போது பரதன் மற்றும் நாட்டில் வசிப்போர் அடிக்கடி வந்திட நேரும் என்று அஞ்சினர். அதனால், அவர்கள் மஹரிஷிகளுடன் காட்டில் வாழ முடிவெடுத்து , அடர்ந்த காட்டுப்பகுதியான “தண்டகாரண்யத்திற்கு” சென்றனர். அங்கிருந்த மஹரிஷிகளின் நிலையை பார்த்த ராமன், மிகுந்த வருத்தம் அடைந்தான். “தீவிரவாதத்தை மேற்கொண்ட அரக்கர்களின்” துன்புறுத்தலால் மஹரிஷிகள் துன்ப நிலையில் இருந்தனர். அனைத்து மஹரிஷிகளும் ஒன்று திரண்டு வந்து ராமனிடத்தில் சரணாகதி செய்தனர். அப்பொழுது ராமபிரான் அவர்களை தான் காப்பதாக அபயப் பிரதானம் செய்கிறார். ராக்ஷஸர்களை வதம் செய்து, மஹரிஷிகளை ரக்ஷிப்பதாக ராமன் ப்ரதிஞை செய்தான்.
அரண்யத்தில் ராவணனின் ஆணையின் படி, “வேத பண்டிதர்கள்(Pandits) வாழ்ந்த இடத்தை தீய ராக்ஷஸர்கள் ஆக்ரமித்திருந்தனர்”. அவர்களை வதம் செய்ய தக்க தருணத்தை நோக்கி, அதன் அருகில் “பர்ணசாலை (camp)” அமைத்து ராமன், சீதை, லக்ஷ்மணர்கள் தங்கினர். அப்பொழுது கர தூஷணர்கள் சண்டையிட வந்தார்கள். ஜனஸ்தானத்தில் ரிஷிகள் இடத்தை ஆக்ரமித்த பதினான்காயிர ராக்ஷஸர்களை ராமபிரான் தான் ஒருவனாக வதம் செய்தான். ராமபிரான் “பண்டிதர்கள் வாழ்ந்த இடத்தை காப்பாற்றி”, தீவிரவாத சக்திகளை தன்னந்தனியாக Mass Encounter செய்து ரிஷிகளுக்கு கொடுத்த வாக்கை காப்பாற்றினார்.

இவ்வண்ணம் மஹரிஷிகளுக்கு தீய செயல்களையே செய்த இராவணன், பெரும் தவறாக சீதையை தூக்கிச் சென்றான். ராமன் சீதையை தேடும் பொருட்டு ஹனுமனை அனுப்பினான். ஹனுமனும் கடலை ராமனின் அனுகிரஹத்தால் கடந்து, சீதை கண்டுபிடித்து, ராமனின் மோதிரத்தை கொடுத்து, சீதையிடமிருந்து சூடாமணியை பெற்றார்.

திரும்ப செல்லும் முன்னர் ராக்ஷஸர்களிடம் ஹனுமான் தானாகவே பிடி பட்டார். பிடி பட்ட போது தன்னிடம் இருந்த “ஆவணங்களை (சீதையின் சூடாமணியை) யாரும் பார்க்கா வண்ணம் மறைத்தார்”. இந்திரஜித் வலிமை வாய்ந்த அஸ்திரமான ப்ரஹ்மாஸ்திரத்தை ப்ரயோகம் செய்த போது, அந்த அஸ்திரம் ஹனுமனை ஒன்றும் செய்யவில்லை. ஆனாலும் ஹனுமன் கட்டுப்பட்டது போல் இருந்தார். மேலும் தான் “ராம தூதன்” என்றும் வேண்டிய தகவலை மட்டுமே அளித்தான்.

ப்ரஹ்மாஸ்திரம் ஹனுமனை ஒன்றும் செய்யவில்லை என்றறிந்த இராவணன் மிகவும் அதிர்ச்சி அடைந்தான். “வலிமை வாய்ந்த ப்ரஹ்மாஸ்திரமே வேலை செய்யாததால் என்ன செய்வது என்று திகைத்தான் இராவணன்”. மேலும், அருமை பெருமை அறியாமல் உயர்ந்த அஸ்திரமான ப்ரஹ்மாஸ்திரத்தை அவசரப்பட்டு உபயோகப்படுத்தியதால் அந்த அஸ்திரத்தை அளித்த ப்ரஹ்மதேவனுக்கு தங்கள் மேல் கோபம் ஏற்படும் என்று அறிந்தான். மறுபடியும் ப்ரஹ்மாஸ்திரம் வேண்டி தவமிருந்தால் கூட ப்ரஹ்மா அளிப்பாரா என்பதும் கேள்விக்குறியானது. இந்த தோல்வியானது, ஏனைய நாட்டு அரசர்களும், தேவர்களும் சுலபமாக ராவணனுக்கு நெருக்கடி அளிக்கும் வாய்ப்பை ஏற்படுத்தியது.

அந்த சமயம் “தன் வீரத்துக்கு இழுக்கும், லங்கைக்கு ஆபத்தும் வந்துவிடக்கூடாது” என்பதே இராவணனின் ஒரே நோக்காக இருந்தது. இதனால் “விபீஷணன் கூறிய அறிவுரையை வேறு வழியின்றி” ஏற்று, ஹனுமனை விடுதலை செய்ய ஆணையிட்டான் இராவணன்.

ஹனுமன் கிளம்பும் பொழுது, அங்கிருந்த நல்லவர்களான(civilians) அப்சரஸ் ஸ்த்ரிகள் மற்றும் அசோக வனத்திற்கும் ஆபத்து நேராவண்ணமும், “தீயவர்களை மட்டும் பாதிக்கும் வண்ணம் இலங்கையை கொளுத்தினான்“.
சீதையை கண்டுபிடித்து, வலிமை வாய்ந்த ப்ரஹ்மாஸ்திரத்தை வென்று, எதிரிகளிடமிருந்து திரும்பி வந்த “வாயுநந்தனை“, மிகவும் சந்தோஷமடைந்த ராமன் “அபிநந்தன்” / “வாழ்த்துக்கள்” என்று இறுக தழுவிக்கொண்டார்.

இதுவே “வாயுநந்தனுக்கு தசரதநந்தன் கூறிய அபிநந்தன் / வாழ்த்துக்கள்.”

                   #சின்னதம்பி கும்கியா?

     அதுவொரு அழகான காடு.   அதற்கு பத்மவனம் என்பது பெயர்.   நல் பூந்தோட்டங்கள் நிறைந்தும், சுவையான தண்ணீர் வசதிகளுடனும் கூடிய அந்தக் காட்டில், கூட்டமாக பல யானைகள் வசித்து வந்தன.   செழுமையான கரும்புகள், இளம் மூங்கில் குருத்துக்கள் என தங்களின் விருப்பமான உணவுகளை உண்டு களித்திருந்தன.   அந்தக் காட்டில் அவைகளை கட்டுப்படுத்துபவர்களே இல்லை.   ஆனந்தமான ஆகாரத்துடன், ஆரோக்யமான சூழலில்,  அமைதியான வாழ்க்கையில் திளைத்துக் கொண்டிருந்த அவைகளுக்கு, சமீபகாலமாக பல சோதனைகள் உண்டாயின.

    மக்கள் தொகை பெருக்கத்தைக் காரணம் காட்டி காடுகளை அழிக்கத் தொடங்கிவிட்டனர்.  அரசாங்கமும் இயற்கையின் இந்தப் பேரழிவைக் கண்டு தடுக்க முயல்வதாகக் காணோம்.   இதைத் தேடிச் செல்லும் வழித்தடங்கள் அனைத்தும் ஆக்ரமிக்கப்பட்டன.   உணவும், குடிநீரும் இல்லாமல் யானைகள் பெரும் துயரத்தில் தள்ளப்பட்டன.   கொஞ்சம் கொஞ்சமாக இயற்கை எழில் கொஞ்சும் காட்டின் பரப்பளவு சுருங்க ஆரம்பித்தது.   நீர் ஆதாரத்திற்கான வழிகள் அடைபட்டன.   இவற்றினிடையே மீண்டுமொரு பெரும் விபரீதம் விளைந்தது.

     ஒருநாள் நகரத்தைச் சேர்ந்த சில மனிதர்கள் பெரும் கயிறு, மிகப்பெரிய யந்திரங்கள், கோடரி, வில், கடப்பாறை முதலிய ஆயுதங்களுடன் காட்டிற்கு வந்தனர்.   யானைக் கூட்டம் பயந்தது. தங்களுக்கு நேர உள்ள பெரும் ஆபத்தினை உணர்ந்தன யானைகள்.

     சில வயது முதிர்ந்த யானைகள் உடனடியாக ஒரு கூட்டத்தை கூட்டின.   “எம் இன மக்களே! இஃதொரு இன மான எழுச்சிப் போராட்டம்! நம் வாழ்வாதாரத்தை அழித்த கயவர் கூட்டம் இப்போது மொத்தமாக நம் இனத்தையே அழிக்க வந்துள்ளனர்.   ஆண்டாண்டு காலமாக இவர்களின் அடக்குமுறையில் நாம் ஒடுக்கப்பட்டு வந்துள்ளோம்.   இதோ! பெரும் கயிறுகள், நெருப்பு, யந்த்ரம், வாள், வேல் என அனைத்தையும் கொண்டு நம்மை அடக்க முயல்கின்றனர்.   வீரம் விளைந்த மண்ணில் பிறந்த நாம் இதற்கெல்லாம் பயப்பட மாட்டோம்.   ஆனால் நம்பிக்கை த்ரோகத்தைத்தான் தாங்க முடியாது.”

    இவ்விதம் துதிக்கையை உயரத் தூக்கி வீர முழக்கமிட்ட யானைகள், மேலும் கூறின:  “இங்கே பாருங்கள்! நம்மைப் பிடிக்க நம் இனத்தவர்களே உதவி செய்கின்றனர்! பெரும் பலசாலிகளாக இருந்தும், மக்களால் பிடிக்கப்பட்டு, பழக்கப்பட்டு, அவர்களின் கட்டளைப்படி நடக்கும் இந்த பழகிய (கும்கி) யானைகள்தான் ஆபத்து மிகுந்தவை.   இவைகள், நம்மைப் பிடிக்கும் வழிமுறைகளை மனிதருக்குக் காண்பித்துக் கொடுக்கின்றன.   இந்தப் பழகிய (கும்கி) யானைகளின் துணையில்லையென்றால் மனிதர்களால் நம்மை நெருங்கவே முடியாது.   இந்த உலகில் பங்காளிகள்தான் பெரும் பகையாளிகள்“ என்று வெகு அழகாக உபதேசித்தன.

     அதனால்தான் பங்காளிகளை (உறவுகளை) நம்பலாகாது.   “ஏ விபீஷணா!! நீயும் அதுபோன்றவன்தான்.   என்னைப் பிடிப்பதற்காக ராமனுக்கு உதவி செய்கிறாய்“ என்று ராவணன் விபீஷணனைப் பார்த்து வசை பாடினான்.   இந்த அழகான கும்கி யானை கதையைச் சொன்னவன் இலங்கேச்வரனாகிய ராவணன் (யுத்த காண்டம் – 16ம் ஸர்கம்).   ராவணனுடைய இரண்டு தம்பிகளில் பெரிய தம்பி கும்பகர்ணன்;   சின்ன தம்பி விபீஷணன்.   தன் சின்ன தம்பியை,  ராமன் பழக்கிய கும்கி யானையாக ராவணன் வர்ணித்தான். இதனால் மனம் நொந்த சின்ன தம்பி விபீஷணன், ராமனிடம் அடைக்கலமானான்.   ராமனும் கடற்கரையில் Save சின்னதம்பி  #SaveChinnathambhi “விபீஷணனைக் காப்பாற்றுவேன்“ என்றான்.

It was a beautiful forest called Padmavanam with lots of vegetation and copious water sources. A group of elephants lived there. They spent their time eating their favorite foods such as juicy sugarcane and tender bamboo shoots, as there was no one to control them. So, these elephants were living a peaceful life in a good environment.

But in the recent past, they had to face some difficulties.

People started destroying forests to make way for human habitation. Even the government did not seem to stop this destruction.

All the paths of the elephant were confiscated by humans, and this made them suffer from lack of food and water. Little by little, the acreage of forests began to shrink. Water canals and the overall flow was also restricted. In the midst of all this, the elephants faced yet another huge blow.

One day, a group of men came to the forest. They were carrying axes, crowbar and other weapons. They even brought large machines with them. Elephants understood what was coming and they shivered in fright.

The older elephants in the group called for a quick meeting. “My dear elephants. This is a fight for our survival. Earlier, men cleared our homes and now, they have come to wipe us off once for all. For many generations, we have been curbed by their supremacy. Now, they have come with machines and weapons to control us. As residents of this Mother Earth, we can’t take this atrocity, especially this violation of trust.”

Hearing this, all elephants lifted their trunk and trumpeted loudly. A few wise elephants said, “See our own species is being used to control us. The biggest danger is from elephants that have been captured and trained (Kumkis) to control us. These Kumkis(trained elephants) are showing humans how to fight and win over us. Without the help of these Kumkis, humans cannot even come near us. In this world, our relatives are our biggest enemies.”

This is why we should never trust our relatives completely. “Hey Vibishana! You’re also like this Kumki because you’re helping Rama to capture me”, said Ravana.

    The person who said this story of Kumki elephant is none other than the Lord of Lanka, Ravana (Yuddha Kandam – 16th sargam).

Ravana had two brothers – the elder one is Kumbakarna and the younger one is Vibhishana. Ravana described Vibishana as Rama’s trained Kumki elephant. Hearing this, the dejected Vibishana left Ravana and surrendered to Rama.

In turn, Rama also took an oath to “Save this younger brother (chinnathambi).” –  #SaveChinnathambhi
