Two Exchange offers
An extract from Sri APN Swami’s Upanyasam
🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺
Azhwars are called so, since they are immersed in Bhagavad Anubhavam. They wrote divine tamil hymns known as Divya Prabhandam about Perumal which showcases the divine feelings they experienced. Nammazhwar, one among the 12 azhwars did upadesam to Nathamunigal and hence, is considered as an Acharyan. Swami Desikan who is an Acharya gave us the famous Desika Prabhandam which are divine tamil hymns i.e pasuram of his bhagavad anubhavam. Because of this Azhwar like anubhavam, Swami Desikan is considered to be an Unique Acharya who is like the Azhwars.
Thus, Azhwar Nammazhwar is considered in Acharya group and Acharyan Swami Desikan is considered in Azhwar group. Truly an exchange offer.

Similarly, there is one more exchange offer which is relevant for today i.e. Thai Magam ( 20-Jan-2021). Thai Magam is Thirumazhisai Azhwar’s birthday and let’s see the exchange offer related to this Azhwar.

Thirumazhisai Azhwar lived in the end of Dwapara Yugam and early Kali yugam for about 4500+ years. Azhwar is divine amsam of Sri Chakrathazhwar , The Divine Chakram of Mahavishnu. The anubhavams of this Azhwar are part of DivyaPrabhandam as “Naanmugan Thiruvandathi” and “Thiruchandavirutham”. There are so many interesting incidents as told in Guruparamparai and Iythikkam/Real Life incidents about Thirumazhisai Azhwar. Thirumazhisai Azhwar had travelled to many divyadesams including Kanchi and finally spent his last days at Thirukudanthai. Thirumazhisai Azhwar and Lord Aravamudhan of Thirukudanthai shared a beautiful relatationship that they used to converse with each other and act as per each others wish.

Thirumazhisai Azhwar was mesmerized with the beauty of Perumal and Perumal was mesmerized with the Bhakthi of Azhwar.

Once, the archakas came to perform the daily rituals to Lord Aravamudhan and offered food to Perumal as part of the daily puja. Lord Aravamudhan spoke to Archakas and ordered them to offer the food to Thirumazhisai Azhwar first and then come back to Him. Following the divine orders, the Archakas went to Thirumazhisai Azhwar, explained the divine command and offered Azhwar the food.

It is a custom to offer the food to Perumal and then the devotees would consume it as Prasadham. Against the routine, Perumal ordered to offer to Azhwar first and Azhwar just followed the divine order by eating the food first. Yes, Thirumazhisai Azhwar did take the food which was yet to be offered to Lord Aravamudhan.

Everyone were puzzled to see a staunch Devotee like Thirumazhisai Azhwar eat food which is not yet offered to Perumal. Looking at the puzzled Archaka, Thirumazhisai Azhwar said “If I had not eaten this food as per the Lord’s wish, Aravamudhan would have felt bad. You all would make umpteen trips up and down in convincing Perumal to eat first which will only delay Perumal taking the food. It was His divine order ( i.e Bhagavad Niyamanam) that I need to eat and hence, I followed His orders i.e. Bhagavad Niyamanam.”

Archakas were very happy to see Thirumazhisai Azhwar exhibiting Parathanthriyam. Parathanthriyam is nothing but the Servant(Seshan) acting as per the order of his Master(Seshi) without questioning by not giving priority to self interest. Thus Thirumazhisai Azhwar exhibited the highest level of Parathanthriyam by this example by following the divine orders.

Lord Aravamudhan was very happy to see such a devotee and accepted the food consumed by Thirumazhisai Azhwar.

From that day “Thirumazhisai Azhwar” became the master i.e “Thirumazhisai Piran” and Aravamudhan came to be known as “Aravamudhazhwan”.
Perumal was so immersed in the devotion of His loving devotee and thus felt very happy
to be known as “AravamudhAzhwan”.

Perumal was called with Surname of “Azhwan” which is usually used for devotee and Thirumazhisai Azhwar was named with the Surname of “Piran” ( Lord/Master).
This is reason behind the names – Thirumazhisai Piran & AravamudhAzhwan.
Truly an another exchange offer for us to cherish.
