சாந்தர் அமைதியாக TV யில் கிரிக்கெட் மேட்ச் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறார். வம்பர் உள்ளே நுழைந்துக்கொண்டே.,

வம்பர்: அட! Cricket லாம் நீர் பார்ப்பீரா! உமக்கு interest உண்டா?

சாந்தர்: ஏன்? நான் Cricket பார்க்கக் கூடாதா?

வம்பர்: இல்ல! அது வந்து எப்ப பார்த்தாலும் பெருமாள பத்தியே பேசிண்டிருப்பீர், உமக்கெல்லாம் இதுல interest இருக்காதுன்னு நினைச்சேன்.

சாந்தர்: நீங்க நினைக்கிற so called வைதிகர்களான எங்களுக்கு worldwide knowledge உண்டு. But, எங்கள கலாய்க்க நினைக்கிற உங்களுக்குத்தான் ஸம்ப்ரதாய விஷய ஞானம் துளி கூட கிடையாது.

வம்பர்: சரி, சரி, நமக்குள்ள எதுக்கு வம்பு, match பார்க்கிறீரே! உமக்கு பிடிச்ச player யாரு?

சாந்தர்: பொதுவா எல்லாரையும் பிடிக்கும். இன்னிக்கி Virat Kohli யோட batting super.

வம்பர்: ஹை, பரவால்லயே நிறைய விஷயம் தெரிஞ்சுண்டிருக்கீர். சரி, உமக்கு ஒரு trending video (video link) காமிக்கட்டா?

சாந்தர்: ஓ பாக்கறேனே! Virat ம் அனுஷ்காவும் மஹா காளேஸ்வர் கோயில்ல பூஜ பண்ண video தானே காண்பிக்கப்போற.

வம்பர்: (திடுக்கிட்டபடி) எப்படி ஒய்? எல்லாத்திலேயும் top ஆ இருக்கீர்!

சாந்தர்: நான் தான் முதல்லயே சொன்னேனே, லௌகீகர்களான உங்களோட judgement வைதிகர் விஷயத்துல தப்புன்னு. Ok. Let it be. நீ விஷயத்துக்கு வா! இப்ப அந்த video ல என்ன விஷயம்?

வம்பர்: எ..ன்..ன.. விஷயமா! எங்க தல kohli பாத்தியா! எப்படி பய பக்தி யோட வழிபாடு பண்றான். கோவில்ல கும்பிட்டது action, மறுநாள் 180 அடிச்சது reaction …..super la.

சாந்தர்: மௌனமாக குறுகுறுன்னு பார்க்கிறார்

வம்பர்: என்ன ஒய் look, இதுக்கு என்ன சொல்றீர்?

சாந்தர்: நீ கோவிலுக்கு போவியா?

வம்பர்: Why not? Time கிடைக்கச்சே நானும் wife ம் போவோம். Sometimes, office லேந்து நேரா கோவிலுக்குப் போவேன். நான் என்ன நாஸ்திகனா? கோவில் போகாம இருக்க. 

சாந்தர்: office லேந்து நேரா போவேன்னா என்ன அர்த்தம்.

வம்பர்: ஆமா ஒய்! Time ஆயிடும்னு போவேன். அதுக்கு என்ன இப்ப?

சாந்தர்: That means pant, shirt அதானே.

வம்பர்: (எரிச்சலுடன்) இதான் ஒய் பிரச்சன. பக்தி மனசுல இருந்தா போறாதா!

நாங்க pant, shirt போட்டுண்டு போனா பெருமாள் அநுக்ரகம் பண்ண மாட்டாரா! போட்ற dressல என்ன இருக்கு? Moreover, shirt கழட்டிட்டு நிக்கறது ஒரு மாதிரி uneasyயா இருக்கு. பேண்டோ, சுடிதாரோ! எங்களுக்கு எது comfort ஓ அத follow பண்றோம். சும்மா restrict பண்ணாதியும்..

சாந்தர்: (சிரித்தபடி) Super, செம argument. But, நீ காம்ச்ச videoல…உங்க தல அதான் Kohli அழகா கச்சத்தோட, மேல் சட்டை இல்லாம, மனைவியும் புடவையோட எவ்வளவு orthodox traditionalலா worship பண்ணா!

Virat Kohli மாதிரி tatoo பண்ணிக்கணும், Hair coloring பண்ணனும்னு ஆசபட்றவா,  கோயிலுக்குப் போச்சே அதே மாதிரி traditionalஆ போகணும்ன்னு ஏன் நினைக்கறதில்லை.

Kohli யோட worship actionனுக்கு 180 reactionன்னு சொல்றோமே! நம்ம lifeலயும் அது வர வேண்டாமா?

     ஒரு சமயம் இந்த்ரனுக்கு ப்ரம்மஹத்தி எனும் பெரும் தோஷம் உண்டானது. அதாவது அவன் இந்த்ர பதவி எனும் நாற்காலியில் அமர முடியாது.  பதவியைத் துறக்க எவருக்குத்தான் விருப்பம் வரும்?!  நாற்காலிக் கனவில் மிதந்த இந்த்ரனுக்கு, இனி தனக்கு அந்த பதவி இல்லையென்பதை ஏற்க முடியவில்லை. “எப்படியாவது மீண்டும் தேவேந்த்ரனாவது” எனும் உறுதியில் இருந்தான்.

     ஏனைய தேவர்கள் ஒன்றுகூடி அவசர ஆலோசனை செய்தனர்.  தற்போதுள்ள சூழலில், இந்த்ரன் பதவியில் அமர்ந்தால், எதிர்ப்புகள் அதிகமுண்டு. ஏனெனில், அவன் நேரிடையாக ஆட்சி செய்யும் அதிகாரத்தை இழந்துள்ளான். ஆதலால் உலகம் இதை மறக்கும் வரையிலும், இந்த்ரனின் தோஷம் நீங்கும் வரையிலும், ஒரு இடைக்கால(தற்காலிக) தலைவனைத் தேர்ந்தெடுப்பது எனத் தீர்மானித்தனர்.

     யாராக இருந்தாலும் அவர் சுதந்திரமாகச் செயலற்றவராக, அதே சமயம் தனது கட்டளைகளுக்குக் கீழ்படிபவராக இருக்க வேண்டும் என்பதுதான் இந்த்ரனின் பேரவா! அதுவும் சரிதான்! இதெல்லாம் பதவி படுத்தும்பாடு!

     ஒருவழியாக தேவர்கள் ஒருவனைக் கண்டு பிடித்தனர்.   தகுதி, திறமை என அனைத்தும் உடையவன்.  “இவனே நமது தற்காலிகத் தலைவன்” என தேவர்கள் முடிசூட்டினர்.  மனமோகன ரூபனான நகுஷனை பின்புலத்திலிருந்து தான் ஆட்டிப் படைக்கலாம்; நேரடியாக அரசாட்சியில்லையெனினும், தனது கட்டளைப்படியே அவன் நடக்க வேணும்“ என தேவேந்த்ரன் நினைத்தான்.

     ஆனால், ஒரு காலகட்டத்தில், இந்த்ரனின் மனைவி இந்த்ராணியையே பெண்டாள நினைத்தான் நகுஷன்.  அப்போது அவனுக்கு ஸப்தரிஷிகளின் சாபம் கிடைத்தது.  இதனால் பாம்பானான்.  எதிர்பாராமல் (accidental) கிடைத்த பதவியை நகுஷன் இழந்தான்.  இதிகாஸ, புராணங்களிலுள்ள இக்கதையினை ஸ்வாமி தேசிகன் யாதவாப்யுதயத்தில் வர்ணிக்கிறார். பதவி பணிவைத் தர வேண்டுமே தவிர்த்து, பேராசையை தோற்றுவிக்கக் கூடாது.

நகுஷனின் வாழ்க்கை நமக்கு ஒரு பாடம் ஆயிற்று.

Once Lord Indra was accursed with Brahmahathi (a big sin with profound impact), and this meant that he could not continue to be the King of Devas. Just like everyone, Indra was also not ready to give up his post because he loved it way too much. To this end, he resolved to become the King of Devas again.

In the meantime, the rest of the Devas got together to analyze the current situation. They understood that there would be a lot of opposition if Indra continues to hold this post or if he rules the Devas directly. So, they decided to appoint someone as an interim head until the world forgets Indra’s sin or until his sins are cleared with time. But Indra wanted an interim leader who will listen to him and will act according to his wishes. In other words, a dummy front face who will execute the wishes and orders of Indra.

After a long search, the Devas finally found someone with the right skills and intelligence, and they appointed him as their interim leader. This temporary leader was Nakushan. He had the powers only to execute Indra’s order, as per the wishes of the former King of Devas.

Everything seemed to go on well until Nakushan decided to enjoy Indra’s wife Indrani. Immediately,  Saptarishis (seven learned sages) cursed Nakushan and he became a snake. As a result, he lost the post that he got accidentally.

This story is brought out by Swami Desikan in his work called “Yadavabhyudayam.”

The above example goes to show that post and stature should give humility, and should not lead one to satisfy the feelings of greed and lust.

So, Nakushan’s life is a lesson for all of us.
