வெட்டுக்கிளி படையெடுப்பைக்கணித்த முன்னோர்
ஒரு நாடு நல்ல வளமுடன் இருக்கவேண்டுமென்றே அனைவரும் விரும்புவார்கள். மக்களின் ஆரோக்யத்திலும், விவசாய வளர்ச்சியிலும், ராணுவ பாதுகாப்பை பலப்படுத்துவதிலும் அரசனின் கவனம் இருக்கவேண்டும். ஆறுவிதமான விரோதிகளால் தெளிவாக உபதேசிக்கின்றன. தற்போது நமது தேசத்திற்கு மட்டுமின்றி உலகிற்கே இவ்விதமான ஆபத்துக்கள் சூழ்ந்துள்ளதைக் காணலாம்.
அதாவது அதிகமான மழைவெள்ளம் முதல் ஆபத்து. அதேபோன்று வறட்சி (வெயில் வாட்டுவதால்)யும் துன்புறத்தும். இதைக்கடந்து தானிய உற்பத்தியை விவசாயிகள் மேற்கொள்ளும் சமயம் எலிகளால் தொல்லைகள் உண்டாகின்றன. தானியங்களை நாசமாக்குவதுடன் எலிக்காய்ச்சல், ப்ளேக் முதலியன ஏற்படுகின்றன. அஃதே போன்று வெட்டுக்கிளிகள் படையெடுப்பால் மக்களின் இயல்பு வாழ்க்கை பாதிப்படைகிறது. பறவைகள் கூட்டம், கூட்டமாகப் புலம் பெயர்வதாலும் பறவைக்காய்ச்சல் முதலியனவும் உண்டாகின்றன. இத்தனை சங்கடங்களையும் கடந்தால் எல்லைப்புறத்தில் எதிரிகளின் ஊடுருவல். எதிர்பாராத யுத்தல் என்பதாக ஆபத்துக்கள் உண்டாகும். இவற்றிலிருந்து காத்துக்கொள்ள இறைவனிடம் ப்ரார்த்தனை செய்வதே சாலச்சிறந்தது என நமது சாஸ்த்ரங்கள் போதிக்கின்றன. அரசாங்கத்துடன் ஒத்துழைத்து, இந்த இடர்பாடுகளிலிருந்து வெளிவர தேவையான முயற்சிகளுடன் இறைநம்பிக்கையும் தேவையன்றோ!

Elders who predicted the emergence of locusts will always wish for the welfare of the country and its people. As for the king, his focus must on the health of his people, growth of agriculture, and the fortification of his army.
In general, six dangers have been predicted and we can see them today not just in our country but in the entire world.
The first danger is flooding from excess rains while the second is extreme heat. When farmers begin to sow the seeds at the appropriate time, the fields get ravaged with rats and they also cause bubonic plague. Similarly, the onset of swarms of locusts throws people’s regular life out of gear. The proliferation of birds also leads to diseases like bird flu. When one crosses all these hurdles, there is enemy waiting at the borders and there could be heavy losses due to such unwanted wars.
The best way to emerge unscathed from these problems is to pray, says our sastras. Besides cooperating with our government in overcoming these problems, don’t we also need faith and devotion?
