Positive energy இல்லாமல் negative energy or vibration எந்த காரியத்தையும் சாதிக்கலாகாமையைத் தரும்.

Can Negativity Be Positive?
During this lock-down, it is heart wrenching to see people dying in bunches in foreign countries. It is assuring that our Government is handling the situation very efficiently and boldly and it also feels happy to see the high appreciation of our handling from other countries. Still a fear lingers that there could be serious damages as some people are indulging in some avoidable mistakes without understanding the gravity of situation. At the same time the psychologists are advising people to stay away from negative thoughts. The view is that it is better to inquire and exchange about the good information of the survivors and stories of recoveries rather than talk about the spread of virus and those succumbed. Yes, we have to realize that the need of the hour is to propagate positive thoughts among people for fighting and winning, rather than spreading fear. Such thoughts will weaken the negativity and develop strength and courage in our minds.
Our scriptures say that one needs to avoid all negative thoughts everywhere. Positive energy alone (and not negative energy or vibration) can result in any achievement. For instance, we should have high confidence (faith) on Perumal to achieve Moksham (salvation) from the cycle of repeated rebirth, rather than tremble at the dangers of life. This is called Mahaviswasam (high confidence or faith). Giving up unnecessary worries of life and enhancing the thoughts on our Lord results in Blissful Peace. This is the resultant truth out of the experience of our elders, besides that of psychologists. This can be seen in the following two examples.
The wicked Hiranakashipu inflicted innumerous hardships upon his son. One way or the other he wanted to eliminate his son Prahlada and was focussing on that day and night. However, not afraid of all these inflictions, Prahlada kept concentrating (Dhyana) on Lord Narayana alone. Is it possible to focus on the Lord amidst such grave dangers? Though a son of Asura, Prahlada set an example for all of us. As desired by him, the Lord appeared and bestowed His Goodwill on him.
Swami Desikan vividly showcases the status of Mother Sita. “On one side, cruel and frightful Demonesses troubled her; on the other side, enchanting flowery gardens attracted her mind. Thus, though Sita was in between cheer and despair, She was filling her thoughts only with Shri Rama and not on anything else”.
One should not dismiss these as just stories from our Puranas (mythology). We should also give up continuous thoughts on hardships and should concentrate on the thoughts of the Lord. Many among us used to continuously talk about the unpleasant afflictions committed by others. Instead, can we not focus on many subjects close to our hearts, rather than on these frustrations? – but that is not possible. When introspected it will become clear that the continuous negative thoughts on the enemies lead to poor health and depression in our minds. The character of Duryodhana flashes in our minds at these times. He is the leader of those fools who spoil their lives by entertaining jealousy on the happy lives of others. “ Mine and those of Pandu” being the first question of Dhridharashtra in Gita, depicts his mentality very clearly, point out our Acharyas. Thus father and son, instead of working towards their betterment, wasted their life thinking of the destruction of Pandavas. Finally, both of them met gory ends in life. Therefore, one should realize that enhanced positive thinking alone should be the goal of one’s life. At times contrary events may be happen, yet, one should analyse the reasons and results for the same to understand the exceptions.
Sisupala continuously denounced Lord Krishna in the Rajasuya Yaga of Dharmaputra. Right from birth, Sisupala was entertaining vengeance on Lord Krishna and this is why Azhwar calls him an “old enemy”. Finally, he got moksham at the hands of Lord Krishna. Seeing that, Dharmaputra was amazed and he explained that though Kamsa and Sisupala were jealous and afraid of Lord Krishna, they attained liberation through His thoughts. (Details of discussions of learned scholars can be found in the Shri Nrisimha Priya – December 2019 issue onwards). Hence, for those like Sisupala, even negative thoughts resulted in elation. Do we also focus on the Lord with such thoughts or do we have the background of birth like Sisupala ?. (As per Srimad Bhagavatham, he was the Gatekeeper at SriVaikuntam and due to a curse, he took birth as Hiranyakasipu, Ravana, and Sisupala).
Why entertain thoughts continuously on those who are disliked by us? There is another golden truth in this. We do not realize that our unjustified negative thoughts on good people turns out to be fulfilling positive accomplishments for them. Pandavas gained much popularity among people as Duryodhana was continuously inflicting hardships on them. Similarly, it becomes a very good publicity for that person on whom we keep on throwing negative thoughts and words. Instead of overlooking them, we unknowingly entertain negative feelings on them which ultimately result in good publicity for them.
Perhaps, if those whom we dislike are Divine Beings like Lord Krishna, then it may result in benevolence to us. In such instances, negativity may result in delight. We should realize that on the contrary, such negative thoughts of ours are like Duryodhana’s misdeed on Pandavas result in good effects on them. In the remaining days, let us forgo the negative thoughts and develop enhanced positive thinking. Let us strongly dedicate the faith on Him and believe that BY His Grace we shall surely overcome the effects of this dangerous virus and become victorious at the end. This will result in better health for the mind and body.
