Sri Purisai Swami was born in Srivatsa Gothram, Nadadur Vamsam on “Avani Chithirai” in Tamil year “Dhundhubi” (August 24, 1922) on a Sukhla Panchami in Purisai, an ancient village on the banks of the river Cheyyar, North Arcot district, Tamil Nadu.

Works authored by Sri Purisai Swami

Swami’s untiring work towards contribution to Visishtadwaitham through his works continued even at his ripe age. Following are the list of works authored by Sri Purisai Swami:

Purisai Swami by his authoritative knowledge of SriBhashya in his book “Sukha Bodhini” (Commentary for SriBhashyam) has embellished “Sri Bashya Simhasanam” – a hereditary title conferred on this eminent family. Even in his eighties he pursued the project with zeal and enthusiasm to enable everyone to understand this terse subject. Swami wrote Sri Bhashyam commentary for Chapters II,III,& IV and upto Maha Siddhantham in Chapter I.

Sri Purisai Swami has Embellished the hereditary title Sri Bhashya Simhasanam. Sri Purisai Swami had taken on the mission to bestow the benefit of Acharya Sri Ramanuja’s Sri Bhashya on a wider audience through study lectures (Kalakshepam) and writings.

The following sloka about Purisai Swami was written by Sri APN Swami on Avani Hayagriva Jayanti. Purisai Swami accepted the thaniyan and bestowed grace on him to gave the permission to recite the same during Upanyasam.

श्री कृष्णमार्यं करुणालयं तं वेदान्तयुग्मं समधीतवन्तम् |

वत्साभिजातं विदुषांवरेण्यं श्रीभाष्यसिम्हं प्रणमामि नित्यम् ||

श्रीमते वात्स्यश्री कृष्णमार्य महादेशिकाय नम:

Taniyan Meaning: Sri Krishnamarya Maha Desikan is the abode of mercy, ubhaya vedanthi i.e one who learned sanskrit and tamil Vedantam. He is the one incarnated in the SriVatsa clan, is the best among schloars. He is foremost and superior most and is one, who is in line with the title of his birth clan SriBhashyaSimham. He is the one who is worthy of inheriting the honour of his Sribhashya lineage. I seek refuge under this great scholar Sri Bhashyasimhasanam Purisai Nadadur VathsyaSri Krishnamarya MahaDesikan.
