The emergence of AthiVaradar at Kanchipuram after 40 years has brought many initiatives from His ardent devotees and one such initiative is a write-up series called “Marai Uriakkum Maram” in tamil written by Sri APN Swami Sishyas based on the kalakshepam and learnings imparted by Sri APN Swami. This series talks about the importance of different trees in our Sanatana Dharmam as in our scriptures and how the Supreme Paramathma is blessings his devotees in the form of various trees in many holy shrines.

Today is Independence Day and a day where our Indian flag flies high everywhere. Like this, there is a flag pole in our holy Sanatana Dharmam too and this is called “Dwajasthambam” the flag pole in-front of all the temples of Lord Narayana.
The residents of Bharatha Desam are lucky as Paramathma is protecting us from all four sides. In the east, we have Him protecting as Jagannatha of Puri, in the west He is standing as Dwarakanathan of Dwaraka, in the south, He is present as Jagannathan of Thirupullani and in the north, He is Nara-Narayanan of Badrikashramam.
Out of these four places, in the west is Dwaraka which is famed for many reasons and it is particularly worshipped as one of the seven holy places that grant us Moksham (liberation). Do you know that the Dwajasthambam of Dwaraka is also special?
Two Dwajasthambams in Dwaraka are very important. When you say Dwarakapuri or Dwaraka, it refers to Gomathi Dwaraka and PEt Dwaraka. Lord Krishna is blessing us as Dwarakedeesan on a small hillock located on River Gomathi and this is why Gomathi Dwaraka is also called “Jagath Mandir.” The Dwajasthambam in this temple is the biggest in the world. Many people from all over India pray to this Dwajasthambam and even offer flag cloth for their wishes to get fulfilled.
The other Dwaraka called PEt dwaraka is located in the middle of the sea. It is also called SangOthaar. This is the place of the holy “Sanga theertham.” There is an interesting aspect here as well. The dwajasthambam of this temple is located right behind Lord Krishna’s sanctum sanctorum and not in the front, as we see it in other temples. It is believed that this was the location of Krishna’s palace where Sathyabama and Jambavathi lived with Him.
When you move towards East of India, you get to Niladri or Puri where the idols of Jaganathan, Balaraman and Subadra are made of Neem tree. A unique aspect about Puri Jagannath temple is that every day a new flag is hoisted on the Dwajasthambam and in the evening, it is lowered!

Sri APNSwami காலக்ஷேபத்தில் அத்தி வரதர் வைபவத்துடன் தினம்தோறும், தாரு(மர) வடிவில் பல திருத்தலங்களில் கோயில் கொண்டுள்ள பெருமாளின் பெருமைகளை அருளிச்செய்துள்ளதின் தொகுப்பினை நாம் அனுபவிக்கலாம்.
இன்று தேசிய கொடி ஏற்றிக் கொண்டாடும் இந்தியாவின் சுதந்திர தினமான நன்னாளில் நமது சனாதன தர்மத்தின் சில கொடி மரங்களை ( Dwajasthambam/ Flag Pole) பற்றி அறியலாம்.
நம் பாரத தேசத்தில் உள்ளோரை கிழக்கில் நீலாத்ரி என்னும் பூரி க்ஷேத்திரத்தில் ஜகந்நாதனாகவும், மேற்கில் துவாரகையில் துவாரகாநாதனாகவும் , தெற்கில் திருப்புல்லாணியில ஜகந்நாதனாகவும் , வடக்கில் பதரிகாச்ரமத்தில் நர-நாராயணர்களாகவும் நான்கு புறமும் வீற்றிருந்து பகவான் ரக்ஷிக்கிறான்.
மேற்கில், முக்தி தரும் ஏழு ஸ்தலங்களில் ஒன்றான துவாரகையில், இரண்டு கொடி மரங்கள் முக்கியத்துவம் வாய்ந்தவையாகும். துவாரகாபுரி / துவாரகை என்றால் கோமதி துவாரகையையும், பேட் துவாரகையையும் குறிக்கும்.
கோமதி ஆற்றங்கரையில் ஒரு சிறிய குன்றின் மீதுள்ளதால் கோமதி துவாரகையில் கண்ணன் துவாரகாதீசனாக வாசம் செய்கிறான். “ஜகத் மந்திர்” என்னும் துவாரகை கோயிலின் துவஜஸ்தம்பம் (கொடிமரம்) உலகின் மிகப் பெரிய கொடி மரமாகும். பக்தர்கள் ப்ரார்த்தனை செய்து இந்த கொடி மரத்தின் கொடிக்கு வஸ்திரம் சமர்பிப்பதை வழக்கமாக கொண்டுள்ளனர்.
கடலுக்கு நடுவில், ஒரு தீவில் ஸ்ரீகிருஷ்ணரின் ஆலயம் அமைந்துள்ள இடம் பேட் துவாரகா / சங்கோதார் என்று வழங்கப்படுகிறது. “சங்க தீர்த்தம்” என்னும் மிகப் புகழ்பெற்ற தீர்த்தம் இங்கு உண்டு. பேட் துவாரகையில் ஒரு விசேஷம். எல்லா கோவில்களிலும் பெருமாள் சந்நிதானத்திற்கு முன்தான் கொடி மரமான துவஜஸ்தம்பம் இருக்கும், ஆனால் பேட் துவாரகையில் மட்டும் பெருமாள் சந்நிதியின் நேர் பின்புறம் துவஜஸ்தம்பம் இருக்கிறது. இந்த திருத்தலத்தில் துவாரகாநாத்ஜியாக சங்கு சக்கரங்களுடன் கிருஷ்ண பரமாத்மா அருள்பாலிக்கிறான். இங்கு கிருஷ்ணரின் மாளிகை இருந்ததாகவும், அதில் சத்தியபாமா மற்றும் ஜாம்பவதி வசித்தனர் என்றும் கூறப்படுகிறது.
கிழக்கில், நீலாத்ரி என்னும் பூரி க்ஷேத்திரத்தில் எம்பெருமான் ஜகந்நாதன் பலராமனுடனும் சுபத்ராவுடனும் சேவை தருகிறான். அம்ருதத்தை வருஷிக்கும் வேப்பமரத்தினால் ஆன இந்த மூர்த்திகளின் பெருமையை நாம் பகுதி 29ல் அறிந்தோம். பூரி க்ஷேத்திரத்தில் உள்ள துவஜஸ்தம்பத்தில்(கொடிமரத்தில்) தினம்தோறும் காலையில் புதிய கொடியை ஏற்றி மாலையில் அந்த கொடியை இறக்கும் வழக்கம் உள்ளது.
இப்படி நாற்புறமும் கோயில் கொண்டு நம்மை காக்கும் எம்பெருமானின் கொடி மரங்களை இந்திய சுதந்திர தினமான இன்று போற்றுவோம்.
